211_Structure

Purpose is an aesthetic paradigm. To be constructable and understood makes a model of a built works: much like a skinny model don’s fashion; demure. I fight to write, but less so these days, paranormal and invoking the spirit. There is no one thing about architecture, but structure.

Structure as the Egyptians surmised is perception and knowledge. To perceive an aesthetic, as: minimal, sparse, structure – knowing how it is making is the job of an Architect.

The Architect initially looks to stone, before concrete, steel, and timber for its outer nature. From cave to crystallinity, we form into regular rectangles to submit our routine to vigorous structure. We are landed on two feet at the seashore under the stone epitaph of 900 miles North. The catacomb of a thousand relics, bones and jewels. There is treasure hidden under there.

The richness of structure is seen in Richard Rogers’ work through design and colour; of his outer steel elements allowing a pure clean plane glass façade behind and possibly held by a rubber strip between the steel and glass, and internal brackets holding the glass up. So, the structure adds something to its strength, but it is it just a decorative appendment? Appending architecture itself, like Mies Van der Rohe.

Structure is anything from a stalactite’s legs to a spine for good posture, sit upright, a diet and a reformation of the church to allow more than one wife, because of Henry VIII’s seven wives.

So, what’s a King? But a blue man with 6 duck egg blue wives.
